The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended an 18-year-old man, Michael Ogbogu, for allegedly blackmailing a female schoolmate using her nude pictures.
The incident came to light after Ogbogu, a former student at a secondary school in Lekki, reportedly used a screenshot of the girl’s nude image taken during a video conversation to extort her.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect not only demanded additional nude photos and videos but also coerced the victim to extort money from her parents.
Ogbogu went as far as threatening the girl for sëxüal favors, which led to her reporting the matter to her family.
The case was officially reported on September 11, 2024, by a concerned woman residing on Estate Orchid Road, Lagos, who revealed that the victim was her younger sister.
She explained that the suspect had been blackmailing the girl for an extended period.
After the report, the Lagos police swiftly arrested Ogbogu.
SP Hundeyin, in a statement, confirmed the arrest and reiterated the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to tackling crimes of this nature.
Ogbogu is expected to face charges in court for his alleged involvement in the crime.
