The Northern Governors Forum, have rejected the total disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
This was disclosed to journalists by Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong and Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Thursday.
The chairman said, the defunct police unit had been useful in the fight against insecurity in the region.
Lalong however, said SARS was not made up of bad elements alone as it also included personnel doing their work diligently.
He further stated, that what is expected from federal government is to reform the unit in order to enable it discharge its functions optimally.
The chairman also said, that there were divisions in the country concerning the continued existence of the unit.
