The Lagos chapter of the Middle Belt Youth Forum has thrown its weight behind Seyi Tinubu for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
The group made the endorsement during a press conference at Eko Hotel, Lagos, on Thursday, emphasizing the need for continuity in building on the legacy of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos and a national political figure.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Stanley Augustine Kavwam, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, and Capt. Brent Kane, its National Youth Leader, highlighted Seyi Tinubu’s inclusive and detribalized nature.
They noted that he has consistently empowered individuals across ethnic and religious lines within and beyond Lagos.
“Seyi Tinubu has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to uplifting all tribes, similar to his father’s approach, and he has proven capable of uniting Lagos State’s diverse population,” Dr. Kavwam said.
The group further argued that Lagos, being a state with a rich mix of ethnicities and religions, requires a leader like Seyi Tinubu to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
According to them, Middle Belt residents and other minority groups in Lagos often feel marginalized in such diverse environments but are confident that Seyi Tinubu would champion their interests.
“Seyi Tinubu knows no tribe, no religion, and no gender. He believes in all people. Those of us from the Middle Belt are often disadvantaged in multi-ethnic states like Lagos. With Seyi Tinubu at the helm, our interests will undoubtedly be safeguarded,” Capt. Kane added.
The group concluded by calling on Lagos residents to support Seyi Tinubu if he declares his candidacy, stating that his leadership would consolidate the foundation laid by his father and propel Lagos to greater heights.
