A tragic incident has emerged in Ilorin, Kwara State, where the body of 21-year-old Mojisola Awesu, a student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, was discovered at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area.
The young woman had been contracted to pose as a girlfriend for a private university student during a party, but the arrangement ended in tragedy.
According to the Kwara Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the body was found by laborers on August 12, 2024.
The discovery was made three days after the deceased was last heard from, prompting concerns about her whereabouts.
The chain of events leading to this tragedy began on August 9, when Mojisola received a phone call from her friend, Miss Timileyin. Timileyin informed her about a night party organized by students of Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin.
It was during this call that Mojisola was introduced to one Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who offered her ₦15,000 to act as his girlfriend at the event.
Mojisola reportedly traveled to Ilorin for the party but soon felt uneasy about her surroundings. She informed her roommate, Miss Blessing, that she was uncomfortable at the hotel where she had been lodged by Adebayo Happiness and noted that there was no party taking place at the supposed location.
This communication with her roommate was the last contact she made, as her phone became unreachable shortly afterward.
Concerned about Mojisola’s sudden silence, Miss Blessing reported her missing to the police three days after the party.
The police began their investigation, which led to the discovery of Mojisola’s body.
DSP Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that some suspects have been arrested, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mojisola’s death.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as the authorities work to uncover the truth behind this tragic loss.
The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward as the investigation continues.
