Ilavbare Rahmatulai, a Nigerian lawyer, has sparked online discussions after making a bold assertion about submission in marriage.
In a Facebook post shared on October 2, 2024, Rahmatulai, who identifies as a Muslim, mother, grandmother, attorney, and chartered mediator and conciliator, argued that a woman cannot be submissive if she is married to a disrespectful man and subjected to conditions such as food deprivation or being an unappreciated breadwinner.
Her post read:
“A married woman cannot be submissive if she is:
– Married to a disrespectful and inconsiderate man.
– The unappreciated breadwinner.
– $ex starved.”
Rahmatulai added that submission is natural when a woman is with a “good man, rich or poor.”
