In a candid interview with Oyinmomo TV, Nollywood veteran Binta Ayo Mogaji has sparked conversations by advising women over 35 to explore the option of having children outside wedlock.
The 60-year-old actress, who welcomed her own child at 40, believes that single women in their mid-thirties or older should prioritize motherhood, even if marriage is not on the horizon.
“If you’re over 35 and there’s someone in your life, even if he’s not ready for marriage, have a child with him,” Mogaji emphasized.
She noted the societal pressures faced by women of that age, highlighting how they are often seen as too old to fulfill certain marital expectations.
“They’ll tell the man to find a younger lady to listen to him,” she explained, adding that even if a woman marries later, she may already be past the prime age for raising children.
Mogaji advised women to seize the opportunity if they have a partner willing to father their child, urging them to prioritize their desire for motherhood.
“If God blesses you with someone who likes you and you can have children together, go ahead and do it,” she said.
She also encouraged women to consider adoption if they cannot find a suitable partner but still desire the joys of motherhood.
