According to information gathered by Becksblog.com.ng, MultiChoice, the company that owns DStv and GOtv, has been mandated by a court to revert to its previous subscription rates.
This decision follows a court ruling that deemed the recent price increases as unjustified.
MultiChoice had initially raised its prices to reflect market conditions due to high inflation and the devaluation of the naira.
However, reports indicate that the price hike led to a loss of over a million subscribers in Nigeria.
The new prices are as follows:
– DStv Premium: N29,500 (previously N37,000)
– DStv Compact+: N19,800 (previously N25,000)
– DStv Compact: N12,500 (previously N15,700)
– DStv Confam: N7,400 (previously N9,300)
– DStv Yanga: N4,200 (previously N5,100)
– DStv Padi: N2,950 (previously N3,600)
For GOtv, the reduced prices are:
– GOtv Super+: N12,500 (previously N15,700)
– GOtv Super: N7,600 (previously N9,600)
– GOtv Max: N5,700
– GOtv Joli: N3,950
– GOtv Jinja: N2,700 (previously N3,300)
It remains uncertain whether MultiChoice will comply with the court’s directive to offer a month of free subscription.
The company plans to challenge the court’s decision, arguing that it undermines their business model.
