The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has indefinitely suspended actress Halima Abubakar following an internal investigation into her alleged involvement in spreading slanderous information about fellow actors.
The inquiry, conducted by a special secret panel, revealed that Abubakar was linked to rumors involving extramarital affairs between prominent Nollywood figures and influential members of society.
According to a statement by the AGN, Abubakar will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the consequences of her actions.
During her suspension, she is barred from participating in any AGN-related or filming activities.
The Guild has tasked its National and State Chapter Taskforces to enforce the suspension, warning of further penalties if violated.
The AGN expressed appreciation for the panel’s meticulous investigation, which has been ongoing since 2022.
The Guild also disclosed that other female members are under scrutiny for similar misconduct.
The statement reads: “Following the thorough investigative report by the special Secret Investigation Panel set up to conduct an internal underground secret investigation into the activities of some blogs/bloggers since 2022… Halima Abubakar is hereby placed on indefinite suspension… She will face the National Disciplinary committee to determine her full punishment.”
The AGN reaffirmed its commitment to upholding ethical standards within the Nollywood community.
