Nigerian Polygamist Urges Single Ladies to Embrace Polygamy, Cites Regina Daniels as an Example
A Nigerian polygamist, identified on Facebook as John-Paul Ugwu, has sparked controversy online with his advice to single women.
In a post shared on Wednesday, 28th August, Ugwu urged single ladies not to reject advances from married men, suggesting that some women are destined to become second, third, fourth, or even fifth wives.
In his post, Ugwu claimed that many single women remain unmarried because they are rejecting their “destined” roles in polygamous marriages.
He pointed to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, who is married to billionaire politician Ned Nwoko, as an example of someone who made a smart decision by embracing a polygamous union.
“Dear single ladies, you might be destined to become 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th wife, etc. So, be very careful how you turn down married men. Be smart like Regina Daniels,” Ugwu wrote.
He further argued that the shortage of available single men willing to marry is the reason for the high number of single women today.
Ugwu’s comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many criticizing his views as outdated and promoting harmful stereotypes.
However, some have supported his perspective, citing cultural practices that still accept and even encourage polygamy in certain parts of Nigeria.
