Nigerian artist Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, popularly known as Blackface, has announced his intention to revive the iconic music group Plantashun Boiz in 2024.
The group, which originally consisted of Blackface, 2Baba (formerly known as Tuface), and Faze, was a defining act in the early 2000s Nigerian music scene.
In a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Blackface disclosed that he is working on a new song and plans to rekindle the group’s legacy.
He reflected on the origins of Plantashun Boiz, revealing how he started the group with 2Baba and later introduced Faze, despite some initial resistance from 2Baba.
“I am the head of Plantashun Boiz, not 2Baba. I brought 2Baba to Plantashun Boiz,” Blackface asserted during the interview, emphasizing his leadership role in the group.
He further explained that he coined the name Plantashun Boiz during his time as a farmer, and decided to retain the name after the group disbanded.
The revelation has sparked conversations among fans, many of whom are eager to see what the revival holds for Nigerian music.
