Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has refuted claims of being labeled an ex-convict following his recent release from a male correctional center.
In an interview with influencer Isbae, Bobrisky emphasized that he was not sent to prison but to a correctional facility, rejecting the term ‘ex-convict’ in relation to his case.
“I am not an ex-convict because I can’t be convicted for spraying my money. I am not an ex-convict. I wouldn’t accept that,” Bobrisky declared.
He was sentenced to six months in April 2024 for the controversial act of Naira abuse, where he publicly sprayed large amounts of cash at an event.
Reflecting on his time spent at the male correctional center, Bobrisky surprisingly referred to it as a ‘vacation.’
He expressed that the experience was a much-needed break from his busy life, stating, “It was a time to go and rest. I have been working so hard and I think their decision was okay for me… nothing happened to mummy of Lagos. I am still fine and still good.”
Bobrisky further dismissed the notion that he received preferential treatment during his time in jail.
When questioned about whether he was placed in a VIP area, he denied it and clarified that he was held alongside other inmates in the male section of the facility.
He expressed his preference for this arrangement, stating that he was treated with kindness and care by fellow inmates.
“If they had allowed me to stay in the female correctional center, I wouldn’t have had fun. I wouldn’t have enjoyed myself.
While I was at the male correctional center, I was the only different person there and so people were nice to me, showing me care, giving me stuffs. If I had stayed in the female ward, who would have shown me care?” Bobrisky quipped.
He also mentioned that during his time with the EFCC, he was held in the female cell, which was a different experience altogether.
Despite the challenges, Bobrisky remains undeterred and even hinted at a return to his money-spraying habits, though now focused on dollars instead of Naira.
