Finidi George has stepped down as the head coach of the Super Eagles, just days after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed plans to hire a foreign technical adviser.
Toyin Ibitoye, a former media officer for the Eagles, confirmed George’s resignation on his X account.
George, 53, took over after Jose Peseiro’s contract ended in February, having been his assistant for 20 months.
In his short tenure, the former Enyimba boss managed a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
