In a candid reflection on his early career, popular comedian Sabinus shared the challenges he faced when he first started doing comedy around 2015.
In a heartfelt post, Sabinus recounted the initial struggle to gain an audience and the determination required to pursue his dreams.
“When I started doing comedy around 2015, I would make a video and post it on Facebook. After three days, there would be barely any views—maybe two, which were mine and my second account. Then I’d see three comments, one from my Aunty and another from my fake account. Her comment would be completely unrelated, like, ‘Sabi, how are you naa?'”
Sabinus also recalled the discouraging moments during live performances where his jokes failed to land with the audience. “I would perform at shows, but no one would laugh at my jokes. Instead, they laughed at me for failing to make them laugh,” he said.
Despite the lack of immediate success, Sabinus emphasized the importance of perseverance. “Success doesn’t happen overnight. It requires hours of hard work, creativity, and consistency. I got here because I didn’t stop and because of God’s grace.”
Today, Sabinus is a well-known figure in the comedy world, admired for his resilience and dedication. His journey serves as an inspiring reminder that success often comes to those who persist through the tough times and keep faith in their dreams.
