The Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has issued an order for substituted service on several key witnesses involved in the ongoing inquest into the death of popular Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate T.A. Sotobi directed the family of the deceased to publish the court’s application in a widely circulated national newspaper and on social media platforms to ensure that the summonses are served promptly.
Among those to be served are prominent figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, including Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and Samson Eletu, popularly called Sam Larry.
Other witnesses include Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo; Boluwatife Adeyemo, also known as Darosha; and Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade.
The court also ordered that witness summonses be served on additional individuals who may hold critical information about the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
These include Feyisayo Ogedengbe, a nurse who allegedly treated the deceased during his final days, and Fidelis Esanbor, the driver who transported Mohbad to the hospital.
In a statement released by their legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, the Aloba family confirmed that the Coroner’s Court granted their request for substituted service on August 16.
The family’s legal team also secured an order to issue witness summonses to those with relevant information, compelling them to testify about the events leading up to Mohbad’s death and any possible connections to it.
Furthermore, the Coroner’s Court approved the recall of two key witnesses: Wunmi, the late singer’s wife, and ASP Muhammad Yusuf, the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) handling the case, to provide additional testimony.
