. Hackers Seize Control of Kano State Hisbah Board’s Facebook Page, Post Explicit Content
In a concerning development, the official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board was hacked on Wednesday, leading to the posting of inappropriate and explicit media content.
The breach has sparked widespread condemnation from the public, who are dismayed by the incident.
The Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, confirmed the hack to newsmen on Friday, assuring that the board is actively addressing the situation.
“Kano State Hisbah Board is aware that its Facebook page has been hacked and inappropriate things are being shared. On behalf of the board, I call on people to help solve this problem,” he said.
Sheikh Daurawa also assured the public that the board’s ICT department is working diligently to restore the page and is in discussions with Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to resolve the issue. He urged the community to report the hacked page to Meta to prevent the further spread of inappropriate content.
Sani Zailani, the Head of ICT at the Hisbah Board, revealed that the page has suffered similar breaches in the past. He confirmed that Meta has been contacted regarding the latest incident and has pledged to resolve the issue within 48 hours. Zailani also expressed gratitude for the public’s support and concern, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to recover the page and regain control.
The incident has raised concerns about the security of official social media accounts and the potential for misuse by malicious actors. The Hisbah Board, responsible for enforcing Islamic moral standards in Kano State, has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to the page.
