In a recent statement, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, has advised residents of Delta State to resist any attempt by police officers to search their mobile phones.
He emphasized that mobile phones are private property and that no officer has the legal right to go through them without proper authorization.
Bright Edafe made this declaration via his social media, where he firmly stated, “No policeman in Delta can ever tell me they search a person’s phone. It is your private property. They can’t do you anything, just don’t allow them to search your phone.”
This warning comes amid growing concerns about unlawful searches and the abuse of power by some police officers in Nigeria.
Edafe’s statement is seen as a move to protect the privacy rights of citizens and ensure that police officers adhere strictly to the law.
