The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that with the introduction of the Electronic Central Motor Registration (e-CMR) system, vehicle owners will no longer need to carry physical documents.
All necessary vehicle information will now be available digitally, enabling officers to verify documents in real-time.
This announcement was made by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, through a statement on X.
He noted that Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun is leading the effort to modernize road safety operations through the use of advanced technology.
“Inspector-General Egbetokun is revolutionizing how we keep our roads safe with the new E-CMR system! Now, no more stopping to check papers – our officers are equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time,” Adejobi said.
The NPF emphasized that the e-CMR system offers a quick, easy, and secure way for vehicle owners to access their information online, eliminating the need to carry physical paperwork.
In the event a registered vehicle is stolen, owners can immediately flag the vehicle as stolen through their online profile, and officers nationwide will be alerted instantly.
This new system is part of the NPF’s broader strategy to enhance security and improve the efficiency of road safety measures in Nigeria.
