Amid the ongoing conflict over the rightful Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, also known as Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, appointed Hamisu Sani as the new Ward Head of Kofar Mazugal in the Dala Local Government Area on Thursday.
This marks his first appointment since being reinstated.
Despite opposition from the dethroned 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, Sanusi stressed the importance of fostering peaceful coexistence and contributing to the state’s development during the ceremony.
As Sanusi strengthens his position, various district heads and delegations from religious and market groups, including the Ansarulddeen Tijjanniya sect and traders from Kano’s famous textile (Kantin Kwari) and commodities (Singer) markets, have visited the palace to show their support.
Sanusi was reinstated as the 16th Emir of Kano last Thursday following the repeal and enactment of the Kano State Emirates Councils (Repealed) Bill 2024 by the State Assembly and Governor Abba Yusuf.
However, the return of dethroned Emir Bayero to Kano shortly after Sanusi’s reinstatement has created a legal impasse that awaits court resolution.
