Former presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, has taken to Twitter to comment on the news of the arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The arrest reportedly occurred as Ajaero attempted to flee the country.
Onochie, known for her strong opinions, used the opportunity to mock supporters of the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, often referred to as ‘Obidients.’
In her tweet, Onochie wrote:
“BREAKING NEWS: DSS ARRESTS NLC PRESIDENT Joe Ajaero. Good job @OfficialDSSNG. He was fleeing to a nation where laws are respected, and DSS grabbed him. #Obidiots and #Obidients did not follow him to the Airport. #Ndibilibili .”
Her remarks have since sparked mixed reactions, especially from the ‘Obidient’ camp, many of whom saw the tweet as a direct jab at their movement.
Onochie’s use of the term “#Obidiots” has further fueled the ongoing political tensions between supporters of different political factions in Nigeria.
While some applauded her stance, others criticized her for using such language in public discourse, arguing that it does little to promote national unity.
At the time of this report, the reasons for Ajaero’s arrest by the DSS remain unclear, though some sources suggest it could be linked to the recent activities of the NLC in Nigeria.
