The Lagos State Police Command has detained a commercial $ex worker named Joy Kelvin on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 48-year-old client, known only as Okafor.
The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 5:32 am at the Jakande Housing Estate in the Lekki area of Lagos.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the details of the case on Monday, October 7, explaining that it was reported to the Ilasan Police Division by a close friend of the deceased.
He relayed that the friend received a call stating that Okafor had been stabbed in his home by Kelvin, whom he had invited to spend the night.
Hundeyin added that Okafor was swiftly transported to the General Hospital in Marina, where he was declared dead by medical personnel.
He further indicated that detectives quickly arrived at the scene after receiving the report and apprehended Kelvin.
The body of the deceased was then removed and taken to the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for preservation and autopsy.
Hundeyin elaborated, stating, “The victim was brought to the General Hospital in Marina, where a doctor confirmed his death. Upon receipt of the report, detectives promptly visited the scene and detained the suspect. The body has been transported to the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for preservation and autopsy.”
SP Hundeyin noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the full details surrounding the incident, and efforts are being made to inform Okafor’s family.
