Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Musa Yakubu, serving at the Yaba Divisional Police Headquarters in Abaji Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was found dead inside his apartment on Wednesday morning.
A police source, speaking anonymously to newsmen, confirmed the officer’s death, stating that Yakubu had just returned home from work the previous night.
“He was healthy and fine until we discovered his lifeless body on Wednesday morning in his bedroom,” the source said.
The officer had reportedly worked until late Tuesday night.
ASP Yakubu, a native of Gwargwada in Kuje Area Council, had recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Police Service Commission.
He had also traveled home to Gwargwada a month earlier to attend his father’s funeral.
The Agabe of Gwargwada-Ugbada, HRH Alhaji Hussain Agabi Man, confirmed the death, and the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Adeh Josephine, also corroborated the incident in a statement.
She mentioned that Yakubu passed away in his apartment after a prolonged illness, despite initially being described as healthy.
The sudden death has left colleagues and the community in shock as they mourn the loss of a dedicated officer.
