Renowned Nigerian artist, D’Banj, has opened up about his enduring bond with music producer Don Jazzy, describing their friendship as “stronger than brotherhood.”
The singer shared this heartfelt reflection during a recent interview, highlighting the origins of their relationship and the mutual respect they continue to share despite going their separate ways.
Recounting the early days of their partnership, D’Banj reminisced about his humble beginnings in London.
“I was a joker who came to a studio to crack jokes and make people laugh while Don Jazzy was busy producing for JJC and 419 Squad. I used to call them London boys with big dreams,” he said.
Though initially a visitor bringing laughter and “good vibes” to the studio, D’Banj soon caught the “musical fever” and decided to pursue a career in music.
Don Jazzy, recognizing D’Banj’s unique energy, collaborated with him to create iconic beats that would later define an era in the Nigerian music industry.
While their professional partnership eventually ended, D’Banj emphasized the amicable nature of their split. “We parted ways in peace—no drama, no name-calling, no court case, no eyeballing each other,” he revealed.
Reflecting on their ongoing relationship, D’Banj expressed admiration for Don Jazzy. “We are so close that we still support each other and wish each other well. Don Jazzy is a good man. He is stronger than a brother,” he stated.
