In a concerning incident, an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Emeason Chima, was abducted by armed men near Maduka University in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Chima, attached to the RS4.211 Ugbokolo unit, was reportedly traveling alone on Saturday when the gunmen ambushed him.
According to an internal memo from Emmanuel Al-Hassan, the Ugbokolo unit commander, the abduction occurred after Maduka University along the Nsukka-Enugu Road, near the OPI junction.
Sources within the agency revealed that the kidnappers contacted the unit commander, using Chima’s phone to demand a ransom of ₦50 million for his release.
A senior FRSC official, who spoke to SaharaReporters under anonymity, confirmed that Chima was driving a Toyota saloon car when the attack took place.
“The command is aware of the situation and is monitoring developments closely,” said the official, noting that additional details will be shared as the situation unfolds.
The FRSC is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid in the safe recovery of their colleague.
The authorities are expected to work closely with local law enforcement to secure his release.
