The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite facing criticism from various quarters.
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made his stance clear during the PDP Congress held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, expressed no regrets about his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
He emphasized that he would continue to serve diligently in his capacity as the FCT Minister.
His appointment has been a subject of intense debate, with some speculating that it was a reward for his role in delivering Rivers State to Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
In a bold and defiant statement, Wike addressed his critics directly, telling them to “go and hug a transformer” if they were unhappy with his collaboration with the Tinubu administration.
This remark underscores Wike’s unapologetic approach and unwavering commitment to his current political role, despite being the only opposition member in Tinubu’s cabinet.
The criticism from within his own party, with some PDP members questioning his loyalty and decision to work with the APC-led government, has not deterred Wike.
He remains resolute, asserting that he is “fully in government” and has no plans to back down from his responsibilities.
