Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Ohemaa Mercy has sparked online conversations after revealing the reasons behind her decision to end her marriage to Mr. Twum-Ampofo.
Speaking in an open interview with, Ohemaa Mercy shared that the decision was not made impulsively but after careful thought, prayer, and divine guidance.
“I didn’t just get up one day and decide to divorce my husband. I took it to God in prayer. I was committed to doing the Lord’s work, and I knew marriage was somewhat going to hinder it. So I sought His permission and approval before deciding to divorce him,” she explained.
Ohemaa Mercy further clarified that she initiated the divorce, but emphasized that the separation was a mutual decision, free of hostility.
“We came to a mutual agreement about going our separate ways, and he agreed,” she added.
The singer’s revelation has led to mixed reactions, with many expressing their opinions on the role of faith in such personal decisions.
However, Ohemaa Mercy remains firm, stating that her actions were guided by her commitment to her spiritual journey and the direction she received from God.
Ohemaa Mercy and her husband, Isaac Twum-Ampofo, have been married since 2004.
As of this year 2024, their marriage is 20 years old.
