The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command has prohibited the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) from holding any protests in the nation’s capital.
In a statement released on Monday night, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, expressed concern over the banned group’s plans to hold a procession to mark the 2024 Islamic calendar day of Ashura.
She noted that past activities by the IMN, also known as Shi’ite, have often led to significant disturbances, causing chaos and disorder in the capital.
The command urged members of the IMN to avoid any planned protests or processions, warning that they will use all legal measures to stop anyone who attempts to defy the ban.
The police are dedicated to maintaining law and order and will take necessary actions to ensure the safety and well-being oft he public.
