A yet-to-be-identified Nigerian man from the north popularly known as “Aboki,” who is a commercial phone charger based in Port Harcourt, has sparked outrage after labeling a female customer’s power bank with the offensive term “Ashawo,” a Nigerian slang meaning prostitute.
This incident, captured on video and now going viral, has ignited widespread attention.
The lady, who had taken her power bank to the shop for charging, returned to find the derogatory term written on her device.
In Nigeria, it is common practice for phone chargers to write a customer’s name on their device for identification purposes.
However, in this case, the Aboki seemingly did not know the woman’s name and opted to write “Ashawo” instead.
Upon seeing the label, the woman erupted in anger, confronting the man.
In the video, she is heard demanding, “Have I ever fûçked you or your father before?” expressing her outrage and questioning what warranted such a degrading label.
The video shows the woman attempting to break into the shop to confront the Aboki, wielding a large stick in her frustration.
Fortunately, bystanders intervened to prevent the situation from escalating into violence. However, she vowed to retaliate and “deal with him.”
The video, which has garnered massive attention on social media, has stirred discussions about respect, the misuse of slang, and the boundaries of customer service.
