Nollywood actor Stephen Alajemba, popularly known as Uwaezuoke, has sparked controversy with his recent remarks on polygamy.
The actor, in an interview with Ugwumba TV, claimed that men who marry fewer than three wives are committing a sin and are at a greater risk of harm within their marriages.
“It’s a sin to marry one or two wives. But if you marry three or four, you will be free from sin,” Uwaezuoke stated. He argued that having multiple wives ensures a man’s safety, explaining that the dynamics between three or more wives prevent conspiracy against the husband.
“If you marry one wife, your life is at risk. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you. But if you marry three or more wives, they will all be on their own, and you will only need to provide for them, taking turns with their meals and bedrooms,” he elaborated.
Uwaezuoke’s comments have sparked debates online, with some critics describing his views as outdated and harmful, while others have defended his perspective as rooted in traditional African practices.
The actor, known for his roles in Nollywood classics, has not shied away from sharing polarizing opinions in the past, making him a recurring subject of public discourse.
