Ason Rich, a well-known movie producer based in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, has been implicated as one of the kidnappers who were confronted and neutralized by the Lagos State Police Command last week.
According to investigations by Becksblog.com.ng, the Lagos Police Command reported that on Thursday, July 4th, they encountered a group of kidnappers, resulting in the death of nine and the escape of two others who were injured by gunfire, based on intelligence received.
The command’s Special Squad One Team successfully engaged the criminals in operations spanning the Ajao, Okota, Isolo, and Ladipo areas of Lagos State.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the gang had plans to abduct high-profile individuals in Lagos before the police intervention.
Nollywood actor Stanley Nwoke Ontop highlighted in an Instagram post that Ason is a notable Nollywood producer in Asaba and called upon the Actors Guild of Nigeria’s leadership to thoroughly vet its members.
Nwoke shared the information on social media, stating:
“He was shooting gun in movies and real life. Kidnapper”.
