A 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from Ebonyi state, narrowly escaped death in Abuja Nigeria after meeting a man she connected with on social media.
The shocking incident was made public by an internet influencer, Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who shared details on his Facebook page on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
According to Ugwuanyi, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command rescued Promise Eze, who was found tied to a chair with her mouth covered in plaster.
She was discovered unconscious, raising fears of a possible fatal outcome.
Investigations revealed that Promise had checked into a hotel on January 30, 2025, at about 7:00 AM, in the company of a man who introduced himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State.
Further findings indicated a disturbing pattern of deception and violence, suggesting that the suspect may have lured his victim under false pretenses.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the suspect’s whereabouts or whether any arrests have been made.
However, the case has sparked widespread concern about the dangers of online interactions and the need for increased caution when meeting strangers.
The police are expected to provide updates as investigations continue.
