The Governor of Adamawa state represented by his deputy, Prof Kaletapwa G Farauta, on Monday, January 22 cautioned and issued a Six weeks ultimatum to hotel managements in the State to install CCTV surveillance cameras in their hotels or face the full wrath of the government.
This comes after the recent horror murder of a woman in one of the hotel In Yola, on Thursday, January 18 when her headless body was later found by the hotel workers while the man who beheaded her reportedly fled with the head.
Addressing the hoteliers, Farauta said “we wont sit as government and watch while our citizens are being disseminate and killed one by one”.
“After coming back and forth, the government have agreed for six weeks ultimatum, and after six weeks if you don’t have the CCTV in your hotel, motel, lodge or whatever the name it is, the government will have the right to take its decision”…. She added
Responding, Chief Samuel Adwata, chairman hoteliers association commended the effort of the state government for their commitment towards the peaceful coexistance in the state. Promising to rally round his members to abide by the six weeks ultimatum of fixing CCTV surveillance cameras in all the hotels in the state.
