The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sharply criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, accusing the president of making superficial changes that fail to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
Following a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, President Tinubu dismissed five ministers and appointed seven new ones, as part of efforts to streamline governance and improve efficiency.
However, the PDP views this move as insufficient, raising concerns over the qualifications and intentions of the newly appointed ministers.
Timothy Osadolor, the PDP’s Deputy National Youth Leader, was particularly vocal, likening the reshuffle to “replacing filthy rags with another set of filthy rags.” Speaking with newsmen, Osadolor described the changes as a distraction from deeper national issues, including insecurity, unemployment, and economic instability.
“These are cosmetic arrangements to deceive Nigerians,” Osadolor remarked. “The real issue is that the President is malfunctioning in administration. Nigerians are hungry and dying; they need security, jobs, and stability, not just the changing of ministers or the renaming of ministries.”
Despite the president’s efforts to revamp his cabinet, the opposition party remains skeptical about whether the reshuffle will lead to meaningful progress, especially as the country continues to grapple with economic and security crises.
