Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has expressed shock and dismay over an incident that occurred while he was at a mortuary to deposit his late father’s body.
In a heartfelt post on social media, Nwabali shared his frustrations about the state of the country’s economy and the lack of empathy he encountered during a difficult moment.
The footballer revealed that a mortuary attendant approached him with the demand, “Senior man, show us love,” a slang often interpreted as a request for money or favors.
Reflecting on the experience, Nwabali wrote, “Has it gotten this bad? I mean, has the country’s economy gotten so bad that people no longer have conscience? I just brought my father, whom I lost a few days ago, to a mortuary, and the attendant is telling me, ‘Show us love.’ Show you love as in how? For my papa wey kpai!!”
The grieving athlete described the encounter as both shocking and disrespectful, questioning the moral compass of some Nigerians amid the prevailing economic hardship.
Nwabali concluded his post with a lament for his homeland, “Ahh, Naija my country.”
