President Bola Tinubu, during a meeting with former presiding officers of the National Assembly on Friday, emphasized that his presidency is not about personal gain but about serving the Nigerian people.
He stated that his administration is focused on delivering positive outcomes in areas such as infrastructure, food security, education, and energy security.
“I didn’t come to look for money and exploit the situation; I came to work. I asked for the votes, and Nigerians gave them to me,” Tinubu said during the meeting, which was led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, attended by 16 former presiding officers, saw the president urging them to continue fostering unity and contributing to national development.
Tinubu acknowledged the complex challenges facing the country, including dilapidated infrastructure and the need for educational reform, while also highlighting his administration’s plans to address these issues.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the nation’s economic and energy crises, pledging that his administration would prioritize solutions to these pressing challenges.
He called on the former leaders to share their experiences in governance and nation-building, emphasizing the need for collaboration and inclusiveness in moving the country forward.
In response, Senator Nnamani expressed support for Tinubu’s leadership and pledged the group’s assistance in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
He lauded the president’s efforts to promote local government autonomy and urged him to continue working towards national security and economic stability.
