‘I Don’t Accept Indecent Roles,’ Actress Chioma Chukwuka Says As She Promises Her Mother To Remain Decent In Movie Roles
Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka has reiterated her commitment to maintaining a standard of decency in her acting career, emphasizing the promise she made to her mother early on.
Reflecting on the moment her mother first saw her on television, Chukwuka shared how her mother’s values have shaped her choices in the industry.
“When my mother first saw me on TV, she was like, ‘Chioma, so this is what you want to become now. I will not stop you, but please remember whose daughter you are. I don’t want to see you do all those touchy-touchy things in the name of acting,’” Chukwuka recalled with a laugh.
She assured her mother she would avoid roles that compromised her principles, saying, “I am living up to it, and I am proud of myself.”
Originally aspiring to be a banker, Chukwuka said acting was not her initial career plan, calling her transition into Nollywood “a story for another day.”
However, her dedication to family values has made her one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, known for choosing roles that align with her promise to her mother.
Chukwuka’s emphasis on family and personal integrity continues to resonate with her fans and has established her as a positive role model in Nigerian cinema.
