Popular Nollywood actress and mother of four, Mercy Johnson Okojie, recently opened up about her unique experience in love and relationships, particularly in the context of Nigeria and parts of Africa, where financial expectations often overshadow genuine connection.
In a candid conversation, Mercy revealed how her husband concluded she was “the one” after a significant moment early in their relationship.
She explained that in today’s world, love has become increasingly difficult to find due to the monetization of relationships. “Love has become so hard to find because everything has been monetized.
The subconscious mind is so focused on money that we have gotten to a point where we hardly identify reality,” she shared.
Mercy highlighted a key moment that made her husband marvel at her: “He initiated a meet-up, and I went over without asking for transport money, flight tickets, or some form of financial assistance, which many women today often demand before a date or outing.”
She added, “In my case, it was different. I never asked for transport money or any form of billing because I kept an open mind to meet with the prospect of creating value and showing respect to myself as a woman.”
