Renowned preacher and leader of The Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, Texas, Bishop T.D. Jakes, has opened up about his unwavering faith and readiness to embrace death after a recent health scare that left his congregation and global followers deeply concerned.
Speaking from his hospital bed, the 67-year-old bishop, who collapsed during a live service a few days ago, shared a heartfelt message reflecting on his life, ministry, and faith.
“I am not afraid of death, even if it comes now, I will embrace it because I am at peace with the Lord,” he said. “I have lived my whole life to His glory, won souls through my ministry, and brought so many people to know His name.
There is a time for everything—Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us of this—a time to live and a time to die. I am glad I am at peace with my Maker as the world will remember my name for good.”
The bishop collapsed during a Sunday service, prompting swift medical intervention.
In a detailed statement, he expressed gratitude for God’s protection and the expertise of medical professionals, stating the incident could have been fatal if not for divine intervention.
“I give thanks unto the Lord that I did not have a stroke. However, the event could’ve been fatal if it weren’t for God’s intervention. A special thank you to God and the medical professionals whose speed and expertise were beyond exceptional,” he said.
Bishop Jakes also acknowledged the need for rest, emphasizing the biblical importance of honoring the Sabbath. “As God calls us to honor the Sabbath, I’m reminded that rest is not a weakness—it is a divine gift.
My job now is to recuperate and reflect on God’s protection as He restores me toward His service.”
Despite the health scare, the bishop reaffirmed his commitment to his congregation and ministry. “While I continue to be strengthened by His grace, I stand in awe of my family and the tremendous leadership team that surrounds me. Together, we press forward, steadfast in the work the Lord has set before us.”
He concluded by expressing gratitude to his global community of supporters: “I’m forever humbled by your outpouring of love and support. I will always give my best. May His presence continue to guide and sustain you and provide peace and protection over you all.”
The incident has sparked prayers and well-wishes from across the globe, with many praising the bishop’s enduring faith and resilience.
