In light of rising insecurity in Nigeria, the founder and president of Brekete Family, a human rights radio and television station based in Abuja, has urged women to carry screwdrivers in their bags as a means of self-defense against kidnappers/ One Chance.
Speaking during his live TV and radio program on Tuesday, September 24, he emphasized that carrying a screwdriver would not lead to arrest and could serve as a practical tool for protection.
He advised women to ensure their screwdrivers are sharpened for effective use in dangerous situations.
Drawing from personal experience, he mentioned that he always keeps a knife with him while driving in Abuja, highlighting the importance of being prepared.
While acknowledging the seriousness of the current security landscape, he clarified that his intention is not to promote violence but rather to empower women to take proactive steps in safeguarding themselves.
His comments have sparked conversations about personal safety and the measures individuals can take in response to rising crime rates.
