An Islamic educator in Adamawa State, Malam Idris Abubakar, has been apprehended for allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with two of his students, aged 12 and 10.
The 22-year-old Idris, residing in Gaya Ward of Mubi South Local Government Area, was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police following a report from the parent of one of the children, who had suspicions regarding the teacher’s behavior.
The young victims recounted to the police that their instructor, who provided them with Islamic education, would assign them menial household tasks after lessons.
During these times, he would also request massages from them before committing acts of sëxüal misconduct.
They had kept the situation secret due to threats from the teacher regarding severe repercussions if they disclosed his actions.
Additionally, the mother of one of the boys informed the police that her son had been experiencing stomach pains and diarrhea.
This prompted her to investigate further, and after initially hesitating to reveal the truth, the boy disclosed the inappropriate behavior of the teacher when she threatened to involve law enforcement.
In contrast, the accused has denied the allegations of sëxüal misconduct, admitting only to having the boys assist with household chores.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the Commissioner of Police has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
Nguroje confirmed that the suspect would subsequently be presented in court to face legal proceedings.
