Nollywood actor Zack Orji has refuted allegations suggesting he claimed to hail from Gabon, after a podcast video circulated widely on Monday, May 20.
The footage seemingly depicted the actor asserting his birthplace as Gabon, implying citizenship of the Central African nation.
Orji clarified that his father’s profession involved extensive international travel, leading to his birth in Gabon.
Nonetheless, Orji vehemently disavowed any connection to Gabon, reaffirming his Nigerian roots.
In a statement conveyed to popular print media on Tuesday, May 21, Orji emphatically stated, “Not long ago, they claimed I had passed away; thankfully, it was proven to be a falsehood from the depths of deception.”
“Now, another lie from the pit of hell has emerged, claiming that I said, “I’m from Gabon, I’m not a Nigerian”.
“I hereby issue a disclaimer dissociating myself from that lie. I am a full-blooded Nigerian, both of my parents are Nigerians.
“I am from Enugu State, the Coal City State. I am proudly Nigerian; and, I am equally proud of my Nigerian heritage.
“God almighty will deal with whoever originated that lie as he dims fit.”
