Austin Eguavon, the interim coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has refuted rumors of his resignation following the team’s match against Rwanda.
Arriving at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja early Wednesday morning, Eguavon clarified that his previous statements were misinterpreted.
Eguavon, who was appointed under a temporary contract to lead the Super Eagles through the Benin Republic and Rwanda qualifiers for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, emphasized his continued role in the team.
He indicated that he plans to meet with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) leadership to discuss future strategies.
“It’s quite unfortunate that misinformation is spreading,” Eguavon stated.
“The reports suggesting my resignation are not accurate. I am still in charge as the technical director and responsible for leading the Super Eagles at this time.”
