Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to ten #EndBadGovernance protesters, who were previously detained on charges including treason.
The ruling, delivered on Wednesday, sets bail at N10 million for each defendant, with the condition of providing one surety in the same amount.
Justice Nwite emphasized the principle of the presumption of innocence, underscoring that the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
In delivering his decision, he considered the defense’s arguments, notably those presented by Abubakar Marshall, the counsel for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th defendants.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, the judge ruled that bail would be granted, stating, “I have carefully considered the submission of the counsel on both divides.
I hereby grant the defendants bail notwithstanding the crime.”
Further details on the case are expected to emerge as it unfolds.
