In a tragic turn of events, bandits have reportedly killed Captain Ibrahim Yibranii Yohana, a gallant officer in the Nigerian Army, just nine months after his wedding.
The incident, which has left family, friends, and colleagues in mourning, occurred two months after he celebrated his birthday.
Captain Yohana, hailing from Kaduna State, tied the knot with his wife, Jossy Happiness, on November 4, 2023. The couple had been married for less than a year before this devastating loss.
As of now, details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unclear. However, the tragic news has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes on social media.
Lucy Adadevoh, a close friend, took to Facebook on Sunday, August 11, 2024, to express her sorrow, stating, “Another hero has gone down by bandits. Oh God, we pray for mercy and your comfort to the entire family. Our hearts are bleeding, Lord.”
Genesis Kaboshio Akau, who knew Captain Yohana from their days at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, also shared his grief: “My beloved Predecessor back then in ABU Zaria (ESM), a very dedicated Organist who loves God… I was surprised to hear he joined the Nigerian Army… Unfortunately, I heard the sad story of your departure from this realm of life. U lost ur younger sister, elder brother & now u are gone. May the LORD comfort us all. We’ll miss u dearly, beloved Captain Ibrahim Yohanna (Presido Commando). Sai mu zo.”
Another friend, Eric Katanga, expressed his disbelief and sorrow, writing, “Since yesterday I was hoping to get another call to hear that it was a mistake of identity, but then we are left with no choice than to accept reality. Rest on brother. Rest on Captain Ibrahim Yohana.”
The loss of Captain Yohana is yet another painful reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions where banditry has claimed countless lives. The Nigerian Army and the nation at large mourn the loss of this brave officer.
