A tricycle operator, commonly known as a Keke rider, tragically took his own life after multiple unsuccessful attempts to retrieve his seized vehicle from government officials in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
According to eyewitnesses in a video shared on X, the incident occurred when the rider was stopped by officials for an alleged traffic violation.
They confiscated his tricycle and brought it to their office near Jubilee Estate along the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway.
Despite his persistent efforts to reclaim his tricycle, he was unable to do so.
In a desperate act of frustration, he hanged himself from a tree in front of the office housing the Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and Vehicle Inspection Officers in Ikorodu.
The incident, which took place on July 11, 2024, was described by eyewitnesses as a tragic event.
