Man dies in Benue after setting himself ablaze over alleged non-payment of 3 yrs allowance

 

A young man identified as Aondona Yaga, who works as a casual staff at the Gwer local government secretariat, Aliade, area of Benue state, was said to have allegedly set himself ablaze over alleged non-payment of three years salary.

Report said, the ugly incident occurred on Wednesday morning 9th December, 2020.

According to the deceased grandmother who was seen around his abandoned corpse, said her grandson was going through hard times because he has not received his allowance for almost three years.

The young man however, fell sick and couldn’t afford money for medication. He became frustrated, on Wednesday morning, he decided to set himself on fire inside his thatched room.

At the time of filling this story, the Information Officer of Gwer Local Government, Mr. Chris Avi, confirmed the story to be true, but couldn’t give further details.
