A young man named Inalegwu Major was fatally electrocuted on Friday while attempting to vandalize a transformer near the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) center in Otukpo, the main town of Otukpo Local Government Area in Benue State.
Reports gathered by Becksblog.com.ng indicate that the incident occurred when power was suddenly restored by the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).
His lifeless body was discovered hanging from the high-tension pole the following Saturday morning, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
It was also revealed that some officials from the electricity distribution company where at the scene of the incident to remove the deceased’s body from where it was suspended on the transformer pole, holding tools in his hand.
In response to the tragic event, student leader Simeon Okpoko highlighted the ongoing security challenges faced by educational institutions.
