Nigerian actress and producer Abimbola Craig has candidly shared her reasons for remaining single at 38, sparking conversations about gender roles and societal expectations in marriage.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Craig expressed her unconventional perspective, saying, “Marriage is a scam.”
She critiqued traditional gender roles within the institution, highlighting the undue burden often placed on women to manage the home and care for their partners.
Craig humorously described the title “Mrs” as an acronym for “Master’s in Residential Servicing” to illustrate the expectations of women in marriage.
However, she clarified that her stance is not an outright rejection of marriage but a call for partnerships based on self-awareness and purpose.
“I am not married, not because I do not want to be, but if you are a man who does not know who he is, you cannot be with me,” she said.
Known for her role as Tiwalade in the hit web series Skinny Girl in Transit, Craig has also made waves behind the camera, collaborating with filmmaker Jade Osiberu on the blockbuster movie Sugar Rush.
In addition to her career, Craig has been open about her health journey. Earlier this year, she revealed her struggle with a brain tumor that led to a life-saving surgery in 2014.
She detailed her recovery process in a YouTube video, describing challenges like nausea, insomnia, and weight loss, which left her fearing for her life.
