Hajia Dada, the mother of late former Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, has passed away at the age of 102.
She died on Monday at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina after a brief illness.
Hajia Dada was a matriarch of the Yar’adua family, known for her prominent role in raising sons who became significant figures in Nigerian politics.
She was also the mother of late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’adua and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.
Umaru Musa Yar’adua, her son, was the President of Nigeria from 2007 until his death in 2010. Before his presidency, he served as the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007.
The family is expected to announce the burial arrangements for the late Hajia Dada in due course.
