Nigerian actor Chidi Dike has shared a personal story about his upbringing, revealing how his father became a dad at the young age of 17, leading to years of misconceptions about their relationship.
The 34-year-old Nollywood star opened up about the challenges he faced growing up, as people frequently mistook his father for his elder brother due to their close age difference.
Dike recalled how the misunderstanding often left him feeling uncomfortable. Sharing his experience, he said:
“It was a painful experience always hearing people calling me and my dad brothers. My dad met my mum at the age of 17, and they later had me on Earth. The most used word was ‘Pikin born pikin’ (a child giving birth to a child).”
He explained that despite the hurtful comments, his father remained committed to raising him, navigating the challenges of young parenthood while ensuring he had the best upbringing possible.
Dike’s story has sparked conversations online, with many commending his father’s dedication and highlighting the importance of breaking stereotypes about young parents.
