Aliko Dangote, the founder of the Dangote Group, recently shared that the idea for his massive refinery project was originally conceived by President Bola Tinubu nearly 18 years ago.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Dangote revealed that the challenges of bringing the refinery to life were so intense that they turned his hair grey.
However, he expressed pride in the accomplishment, noting that the stress was worthwhile.
Dangote highlighted the refinery’s significance, stating, “Petrol from the Dangote refinery is MS5, one of the best in the world. It would save engines; it’s like water which people have never seen before.”
He also extended his gratitude to the Lagos State government for their support, explaining how the site of the refinery was an undeveloped area a decade ago. Dangote emphasized that the refinery is a realization of Tinubu’s vision, which dates back to his tenure as the governor of Lagos State.
“President Tinubu, then governor of Lagos, dreamt of establishing this about 18 years ago, but nobody thought about coming here. My first visit was in 2015 when I came to see the land, but you can see today,” Dangote added.
The refinery, which produces Euro5 standard petrol, is expected to enhance engine performance and set new benchmarks for fuel quality in the global market.
